Organism Project

There are two parts:  typed & oral

Part 1:  Typed                 Due Oct. 14, 2008            Worth 100 points

Each student chooses an organism (done in class by sign-up sheet).

The project needs to be done on a computer (make sure to save it 2 places:  hard drive and disc, CD, flash drive, etc.).  What needs to be turned in is a printed out copy and the electronic copy.

The project can be a report, a PowerPoint presentation, a brochure, or a web site. If they do a PowerPoint the font needs to be at 36 or higher

A life process chart was given to each student.  This will not be collected nor graded.  It's purpose is to help the student organize the information for his project.  The information to be gathered and presented is everything in the life process chart (such as classification; movement, covering, support, what it eats, how food is digested, how it gets oxygen and gets rid of carbon dioxide; how substances circulate throughout the organism's body; how wastes are eliminated; how does the organism respond to it's environment; how does it reproduce; where does it live; what's the smallest and largest of the species; and some unusual example).  Organs and their functions should be included.

A bibliography must be included containing at least 4 books; 4 web sites; and 1 periodical.  In the report the bibliography should be the last page(s).  In the PowerPoint presentation the bibliography should be the last slide(s).  On the web site the bibliography should be on a separate page linked from the main page.  If the student does a brochure, the bibliography should be done on a separate sheet of paper.  Follow the format given in the handout "Form For Bibliographic Entries."
